How to start making money with the Tripadvisor affiliate program

I could list a few tactics for this particular program here.

This would be doing you a disservice.

You are one of two types of people that’ll make it to this article:

  1. Either you know your fundamentals and are just browsing for new affiliate programs, in which case go on the button above, join up, and start making money and ignore the rest of the article, you know what you are doing
  2. You are somewhat of a beginner affiliate marketer, in that case, read on

To learn how to send traffic and make from pretty much any affiliate program program, you’ll need a solid grasp on the fundamentals of digital marketing.

This includes:

  • Knowing how to make a solid website which performs well, converts well and adds value to your audience.
  • Learning how to drive traffic for organic search results (SEO)
  • Learning some paid traffic tactics with google ads, facebook + instagram ads, display ads etc
  • And if you want to scale this effort and become a full time digital marketer, you’ll either need to dive into advanced topics like remarketing, native ads, building an email list etc.
  • Another option is just going deep into one of those skills and becoming extremely proficient at SEO and converting organic traffic, or focusing on building an email list with paid ads, nurturing that list and promoting your affiliate offers there.

What does Tripadvisor do?

Tripadvisor is a US-based company that serves as a comparison-shopping website and mobile app. You will see numerous user-generated reviews on the Tripadvisor website and app. Along with them, you will find affordable hotel reservations and bookings offers on Tripadvisor. The company works on the principle of bringing people, passions, and places together. It is serving as one of the largest travel guidance platforms at the global level.

Tripadvisor Affiliate Program Commissions

Since you are here to monetize your site or audience, I’ll put the commissions on here first.

This is what I always look for first in an affiliate program 😉

The Tripadvisor affiliate program is available on two networks including Awin and Commission Junction. You can join this program either through one or both networks to monetize your travel-related site. Under this program, you have to send traffic to the hotel partners listed on the Tripadvisor website. The more clicks you send to Tripadvisor, the more money you earn. The company is offering a commission of 50% on each click sent by you through your affiliate link. The amount you earn from each click depends on the following three reasons: –

  • The given booking partner
  • Hotel and seasonality
  • Length of stay

Along with a substantial commission rate, you also get a useful cookie duration of 14 days from the company.

Tripadvisor Affiliate Program Payment Terms

Something often underappreciated as some programs pay quickly while others a little more slowly. Payment terms are always a factor to consider:

You can join the Tripadvisor affiliate program from all across the world through the Awin and CJ networks. The payouts depend on the network through which you are applying for the program. The CJ network pays the affiliates on a monthly basis through check, bank transfer, and payoneer. The Awin network pays the affiliates on a monthly basis through direct deposit, international wire transfer, and many other local payment modes.

Tripadvisor Affiliate Program, A Quick Review

To keep it easy and structured, i’ll go into a few reasons why you should join this affiliate program, and a few why you should not.

You’ll be able to tell whether I liked this program based on how many reasons I list for each site 😉

Reasons to join the Tripadvisor affiliate program:

If you looking for important reasons to join the Tripadvisor affiliate program, then you are reading the right part of this review article. Here are some of the important reasons to join the affiliate program of the world’s leading travel website: –

  • The company offers a huge commission of 50% for sending a click to Tripadvisor’s partner hotels
  • No hotel booking is required to earn money
  • A competitive cookie duration of 14 days. You will earn commission even your referral books a hotel room even through a different device or channel

Reasons to avoid the Tripadvisor affiliate program and work with alternatives:

The Tripadvisor affiliate program has huge competitive advantages in terms of commission rate and program workability. However, there are some areas where improvements are needed to be done such as: –

  • The cookie duration is competitively low
