Ryan Phillippe is a resident of New Castle, Delaware. His parents are Richard Phillippe, a scientist, and Susan Phillippe, a childcare center manager. 

Growing up with his three sisters, Phillippe developed a strong desire to perform from a young age. 

He began his career with little parts in TV series and movies. Before graduating from Wilmington, Delaware, he attended New Castle Christian Academy and the Barbizon Modeling and Acting School to refine his talents further.

His professional career started while he was employed by the Voorhees, New Jersey-based agency Cathy Parker Management.

In 2011, Ryan started dating Paulina Slagter, a law student, and the two remained together until 2016. 

Slagter said that Phillippe had sent her offensive and irrational text messages when she filed an “Annoying or Harassing Electronics Communications Harassment Report” against him in March 2017. 

Later that year, Elsie Hewitt, Ryan’s ex-girlfriend, filed a lawsuit and obtained a restraining order against him because he had assaulted her and thrown her down the stairs at his house.
